One of the most prominent celebrations in Indian culture, ‘Guru Purnima’ was celebrated with reverence and enthusiasm at Vagdevi Vidyapeeth International School, Khargone on 14 July 2022.

The celebrations commenced with the presentation of the musical Saraswati-Vandana by the junior students. The Head of the School Mr. D. Govind described the importance of ‘Guru’ while explaining the meaning of the word ‘Guru’ in his speech that the word “Guru” originates from Sanskrit, where “Gu” means ignorance or darkness and “Ru” denotes the ‘elimination or removal’. Thus, a Guru is the one who frees us of the darkness of ignorance and shows us the path of light of knowledge and guides our lives.

This was followed by the dance-filled ‘Guru Vandana’ by the senior students to mark the importance of the day. Among the various activities organized on this day, the junior students also participated in the ‘Greeting Card Making’ activity and senior students participated in the ‘Thali Decoration’ activity too.

Students actively participated in these activities which enhanced their creativity and skills like teamwork, time-management, planning, communication skills, ideation, cooperation, conflict resolution, accountability, unity, and diversity while working in the groups.

The junior students dedicated greeting cards made by them in school to their teachers. The senior students decorated several beautiful Thalis in groups of three.

On this occasion, students also expressed their views about their Gurus. The students thanked their Gurus by offering tilak and celebrated Guru Purnima by expressing their gratitude to the gurus. Head of the School Shri D Govind thanked the students for celebrating Guru Purnima festival.
